Zindagi Tere Naam movie review

Good things sometimes come in small packages and ZINDAGI TERE NAAM is one such perceptible surprise in the segment of low budget entertainers. Recently Sajid-Wajid had a rollicking blast in PARTNER and the duo maintains their great form again with this low profile entertainer. In terms of contents, the album comes out with mixed bag of amusement with noticeable set of melodies, an energetic 'item song' and a contemporary 'qawalli' number. The major highlight of the film will be return of 70's successful pair Mithun Chakraborty and Ranjeeta in lead roles.

KK makes a remarkable voice make-over as he contorts to 'ghazal-gayaki' type of singing in a song that metaphor the nostalgia of everlasting love in 'Tu Mujhe Soch Kabhi'. Sajid-Wajid's subtle composition has a traditionalistic backdrop with amiable dosages of trendy orchestrations. It's a well conceived track that signifies the eternal love with meaningful wordings by Jalees Sherwani. KK's gleam in modulating overtones is very impressive and the overall track can really be a hallmark for film's touching theme.

'Milne Ko Nahi Aaye', an emblematically melodic presentation of this love saga has characteristically soothing westernized orchestration backdrop shouldered with mellifluous vocals and expressive lyrics. Sajid-Wajid makes this special attribute as it comes in three audibly pleasant versions. The first version comes out as delightful duet by Shaan and Sunidhi Chauhan where tender love moments are exuberated through subtle mix and match of Hindi-English lyrics. Jalees Sherwani's wordings are congenially mesmerized with simplistically verses that make genteel chemistry with soothing arrangements. Shaan makes a delectable presence in the 'male' version while Sunidhi Chauhan's softening vocal textures makes mood tender in the 'female version'. Sajid-Wajid makes appreciably likeable moves in creating fresh whiff of romanticism in all three versions and deserves to be lauded for it. Melodious!!!

* Mumbai, July 7 (IANS) She has been hogging the limelight for her dare to bare act in "Short Kut: The Con Is On" that releases Friday. But Amrita Rao says she believes in hardwork and not taking shortcuts to achieve success in life.

"My entry in filmdom was not a freak accident, it was my participation in ad films that got me due recognition with famous directors and producers. I guess that's the only shortcut I have taken in my life and it paid off. Otherwise, I don't believe in shortcuts at all, I believe in the fact that slow and steady wins the race," she said.

"Short Kut-The Con Is On" is a comedy and it also stars Arshad Warsi and Akshaye Khanna. It has been produced by Anil Kapoor and directed by Neeraj Vora.

Why Simi Garewal's role was cut in 'Short Kut'?

* Mumbai, June 27 (IANS) Arshad Warsi was excited about his 'Rendezvous with Simi Garewal' in forthcoming film "Short Kut - The Con", but he was disappointed when the entire sequence was chopped off from the final cut.

"It
's unfortunate but we had to let go of the sequence. This was done to keep the film's length in check. We wanted the film to be as close to the two-hour running length as possible. The film is now two hours and seven minutes and we didn't want to exceed it any further," Anil Kapoor, the producer of "Short Kut", told IANS.

The comedy has been directed by Neeraj Vora and is set to release July 10.

If the scene would have been retained, Simi would have made a comeback on the big screen afte
r over two decades. She was last seen in her directorial debut "Rukhsat" (1988) where she had Mithun Chakraborty and Anuradha Patel for company.

"The scene had turned out quite well actually," said Arshad, who was expecting his 'rendezvous' with the graceful actress to be a hit among audiences.

"It was shot just like the way her shows are done with the white colour sets all intact. I had to act as this superstar actor Raju (the character which I play in the film) who gets this opportunity to make an appearance on her show.

"So t
here she is all sophisticated and elegant, while I behave as this cool star wearing those fancy, colourful and over the top clothes. The dialogues are really funny too as I start blabbering all that nonsense around how big

a fan I am of hers," added Arshad.

Couldn't the scene have been retained?

"Well, some things can't be helped," said Anil. "Sometimes to make things perfect, you have to sacrifice some good things as well. Unfortunately, the Simi sequence is one of those good things."

Jashnn movie review
On every street, in every home, somewhere in India, there is a 'nobody' who wants desperately to be a 'somebody'. Jashn is the story of one such nobody... Akash Verma, a twenty year old Indian lad, thirsts to become a singing icon that can blaze a trail for himself among the galaxy of existing stars. But though he has dreams in his heart, he has been unable to find that distinctive voice that he can call his own, that will propel him to the top. Only when he's shattered by life and unflinchingly looks at the sordid truth straight in the face - that he is freeloading off his elder sister Nisha, who, in order to offer him a decent life style, has become the mistress of a rich businessman, Aman Bajaj; is he is able to touch his inner core. Call it irony or a twist of fate, but the person who sees him through this dark night and mentors him when he's down and out is none other than the sister of the person who he hates most in the world... Aman Bajaj. It is Sara, Aman's sister, who makes him realize that he is an extremely talented man who is simply going through a bad phase and that the biggest crime a human being can commit, is to give up on himself. Spurred by life's bittersweet lessons, and Sara's genuine love and support, Akash, in the harshest winter of his life discovers an invincible summer within himself... thereby discovering his own voice. With this very special tune which has been soaked with the passion of his lived life, he not only touches his inexhaustible potential and becomes an overnight star but also brings dignity to his beleaguered sister, humbles his biggest detractor Aman Bajaj and in the process, lives up to the faith that Sara had in him all along.
.Music has always been the high point of films churned out by Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt's Vishesh Films. "Jashnn" too has some nice renditions, which make the soundtrack something to look forward to.

Music composer duo Toshi-Sharib has created six originals and two remixes for the film.

"Aaya re", crooned by KK, starts off slowly but picks up pace and reaches its crescendo in no time. The composition has touches of rock and is a decent number. However, the lyrics could have been more appealing.

Next is "Aish Karle", which has the composers going behind the mike and starts with a few dialogues. Even though the lyrics are mediocre, the powerful music fills the gap.

"Dard-e-tanhai" is a soft rock number sung by Nouman Javaid. The song, which is slow-paced with the electric guitar in prominence, gives listeners a heard-before feeling. It also has a remixed version called the kilogram mix, which is nothing extraordinary.

"Main chala" can be described as the best song in the album. Beautifully sung by Nouman Javaid, the song is highly engaging and has acoustic guitar as the main musical instrument and it pulls at one's heart strings. The song is sure to appeal to music buffs, especially youngsters.

The song later arrives in a minute-long "unplugged version" and doesn't fail to make an impact.

Next comes "Nazrein karam". High on beats, the foot-tapping romantic number is sung by KK and Shreya Ghoshal. It is peppy but fails to impress.

This song too has a remixed version which has the potential to become a dance floor favourite.

Finally, there is "Tum Bin" with Shaan and Shreya. It is a soft, free-flowing romantic number and the singers make it hummable and easy on the ears.

On the whole, Toshi and Shabri have done a good job with the music and reinstated the fact that the Bhatts and quality music go hand-in-hand.
Out of the two big Hindi movies releasing this Friday July 17, 'Jashnn' stands on top because of its score in the fields of music and emotions. The director duo of Raksha Mistry and Hasnain Hyderabadwala succeeds to a great extent in synchronizing the different departments. The writer proves his worth by penning the dialogues and the cast by their excellent performances. The movie centers on Akash Verma played by Adhyayan Suman (son of actor Shekhar Suman). He dreams of becoming an icon from that of a small time club singer. However, he miserably fails and in the meantime decides to fall in love with a girl he just spotted at a coffee shop. He calls her khoobsoorat cheez (sweet stranger)!

The girl is rich yet likes Akash even though the latter is broke. She sells her jewelry for their livelihood. Akash struggles to hit his dream but in vain and quarrels with music companies. This is another matter that he is to blame for the sad story of his life; his relationship with his siblings is no good. But, isn't it a stark reality of life? This may look strange though that a small time singer dreams of becoming too big a singer some day. Isn't the movie following the Bhatts' style? So, the plot looks weak initially; how can a small club singer dream beyond what he is worth. But he proves it wrong later. Similarly, its comparison with Arjun Rampal starrer 'Rock On' because of both being musical we don't find it anywhere close to that inasmuch as Akash' band comprises three other artists but no good.

click for larger view
Meanwhile, Akash luckily or after realization of his limitations, falls for Sara played by charming Anjana Sukhani. She is sister of bhai Aman Bajaj played by Humayun Saeed (from Pakistan) who is the master of Akash' sister. Aman doesn't approve of Akash and Sara's relationship. So, there is hardly any romance in their life. Rather, Shahana Goswami playing Nisha as Aman's mistress, succeeds in enacting romantic scenes though very limited. The story provides no scope for her role. Incidentally, Nisha had become Aman's mistress in order to help her broke brother.

click for larger view
Sara, on the other hand, played by Anjana Sukhan is Aman's sister, who makes Akash realize that he is an extremely talented man and is simply going through a bad phase! In the climax, Akash becomes an overnight star, and lives up to the faith that his sister and Sara had in him all along. That's why in the end, Akash invites his sister on stage and makes her accept the award from none other than Aman Bajaj, who always hated Akash. A good example set by Akash! While analyzing the movie critically, we find that Shagufta Rafique scores in writing the screenplay as well as dialogues. As a result, certain scenes enacted especially during Akash apology to Aman and also his indulgence in looting money, are worth appreciation.

click for larger view
Acting-wise, the movie meets with great success. Though Adhyayan Suman's character is initially weak the actor has performed it very well. He can indeed bank on his bright future. Shahana Goswami looks natural even in her negative character of a mistress. Similarly, Humayun Saeed from Pakistan as Aman Bajaj can look forward to brighter prospects in view of his excellent performance even in a completely negative role. Anjana Sukhani is charming and proves that she shares chemistry with Akash. Camerawork is good too.

Keeping in view all the above factors, we find the movie worth watching.

Bollywood Hero movie review

The youngsters of Bollywood however are willing to take more risks and have used murderous and mysterious paths in an effort to achieve stardom. What’s more some have even directed their journey to 2050!

Neil Nitin Mukesh: Though he looks like a chocolate boy with luscious brown eyes and rosy lips, legendary singer Mukesh's grandson chose to make a dark debut as Johnny Gaddaar in Sriram Raghavan's tribute to the cinema of the 70s. His suave Gaddaar managed to hold his own and fool stalwarts such as Dharmendra and Vinay Pathak. Neil won critical acclaim, female fans and special awards for the gaddari! Up next is a film with Bips called Freeze and Kabir Khan's next with John and Katrina Kaif.

Rajeev Khandelwal: Time Bomb, Left Right Left and the big break Kahiin Toh Hoga, made Rajasthan's Rajeev Ekta Kapoor's blue eyed boy a TV star. He chose to break away from television into the big bad world of Bollywood with a very unique, solo character movie called Aamir where the brilliant script focused only on him. And Boy, did he excel! Rajeev won a standing ovation for his gritty performance as the protagonist at the premiere of the film and critics and audience cannot stop raving about the film! This boy has some long innings in Bollywood.

Sikandar: Kirron Kher's son assisted the sultans of romance; Adi Chopra on Mohabbatein and SLB on Devdas. But the moc-ha skinned actor chose to win hearts with playing a greedy womanizer in Woodstock Villa. Though the film failed, Sikandar's screen presence, intense eyes and acting got noticed by the right people. Summer 2007 releases this Friday and things sure look bright for this talented actor.

Harman Baweja: Harman dances, talks, walks and looks like Hrithik Roshan but don't blame the poor lad if his parents made him like that! Isn’t it a privilege to look like the Greek God? This year's most hyped debut is a love story yes, but, a risky futuristic one. Whether the risk pays off or not, Harman has already bagged Priyanka Chopra's affection, female fans (thanks to his performance at IIFA) and Ash Gowariker's What's Your Rashee with Priyanka again. Looking like Hrithik sure has its benefits!

Farhan Akhtar: The alarmingly cute award winning director of DCH has worked with superstars Aamir, Hrithik, Saif and SRK in his first 3 films. Now he has chosen to give his heroes some competition with his rocking musical venture Rock On. Insiders say people have loved Farhan's new look and performance in his debut. Luck movie review

Imran still has a few rough edges to iron out in his acting even though he puts in a sincere performance. There’s a scene in the first half when he’s walking away from Danny Denzongpa. The walk is so pretentious that you instantly catch it. Shruti Haasan looks good but appears sedated for the most part of the film. She’s a good voice but her dialogue delivery has much scope for improvement.

Sanjay Dutt, the tapori rockstar in a mafia don’s pathani suit, delivers an expected performance, while Danny (playing his sidekick) has a magnetic screen presence. Mithun, Ravi Kishan and Chitrashi Rawat are strictly okay.

The film’s music doesn’t offer much to hum about. The dialogues are not just banal but dumb at times. One dialogue goes: “Jinhe chaand pe jaana ho, woh taaron par nahin ruktey”, when it should have been the other way round. The cinematography, full of speedy zoom-ins and crane shots, is not bad. The background score, too heavy.

The only thing to relish in this plagiarized thriller are a few hair-raising moments. The opening train sequence is pretty gripping. The ‘Tzameti’-copied shooting sequence could have been better.

But there’s no forgiving the loopholes. Guess what? Ravi Kishan who plays a serial killer gets acquitted and is honorably released from the prison just because the rope of the noose around his neck snapped at the gallows. Or take the climax when Ravi Kishan keeps shooting his machine gun at Imran who’s just a few metres from him, and not a single bullet finds Imran. These and more such sequences are a bummer for any viewer who had gone expecting an edge-of-the-seat experience.

There’s hardly any adrenaline rush to be had from this ‘Luck’. The action and stunts are too many, but poorly executed. And by the end, the film is such a marvelous mess that you feel like screaming “God! Iss Bungle Se Mujhe Bachao”, but only end up cursing your luck.
Following this saying, this film traces the path of various characters and their lives of how with time and circumstances, peoples life change with their changing luck.

Luck is a story about this boy, Ram Mehra (Imran Khan), who is burdened by a lot of circumstantial problems, and reaches a point in life, where he has the capacity, but no opportunity, to come out of the mess that unfortunately life has offered him.

They say:

LUCK IS WHEN OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS AND YOU ANSWER.

Something like this happens to Ram, and as he accepts the opportunity, by chance encounters, Ram recognizes his own strengths to pull him through the difficult times that lie ahead………

Only he did not know, that the problems do not end, but a game of betrayal and putting his luck at test at every step starts……

He has to conquer the hurdles raised by Moussa played by Sanjay Dutt to win this game of Money, greed and the biggest addiction of betting………

On his way he has the support of Shruti Haasan, playing his love interest, Mithun Chakraborty, Danny Dengzongpa, Ravi Kishen, Chitrashi Rawat etc……

What if you could borrow someone's luck for a day? Wouldn't the world go topsy-turvy? 'Luck' follows the tale of mafia Karim Moosa (Sanjay Dutt) who has one obsession; to revolutionize the betting industry. For him life is a gamble, and what better way to skew the odds than play with those with luck on their side! 'Luck' is a gripping saga with different characters from different parts of the world, each with Lady Finger in their favor. With millions at stake, how far will each of them go in courting danger and deceit?

'Luck' is a film about the luck of seven individuals. Ram Mehra portrayed by Imran Khan is the strongest player out of all. On the other hand Ayesha Kumar Shruti Haasan is the weakest link, yet she survives. Why? She is living on the luc

Mumbai, Sep 24 (IANS) Bollywood actor Salman Khan's latest action movie "Wanted" didn't get favourable reviews from the critics but has done good business by earning about Rs.38 crore across the country in its first week.

Surprisingly, it is the single screens where the movie has fared well compared to the multiplexes by generating 70 percent business.

"Till now, we had undermined the business contributed by the single screen theaters, but this film has made us realise that such theatres are still the bosses," said trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Said another trade analyst: "Single screen theaters have been historically known to cater to testosterone boosting movies - action dramas. 'Wanted' is exactly that kind of film. Then you have the price of the tickets, approximately less than half that of multiplexes, with the advantage of watching it on a 70mm screen. Quite naturally, audiences will choose single screens over multiplexes," he added.

Exhibitor Manoj Desai of Gaiety Cinemas, a multiplex, believes that with "Wanted", single screens have finally shown their clout.

"'Wanted' has got the film industry and also the single screen cinemas out of the ICU. The film has got 100 percent collections till now and it is only going to get better," said Desai.

Starring Salman in the lead, "Wanted" is a bone-cruncher about a guy who takes on a city filled with scum.
Wanted' is an action-packed film directed by choreographer-turned-actor Prabhu Dheva. It brings Salman Khan back into the action theme.

The film is about Radhe (Salman Khan) who is a hardcore gangster. A sharpshooter with a sharp brain, he works for mafia leader Gani Bhai (Prakash Raj), but on his own terms. With no fear, Radhe single handedly eliminates Gani Bhai's enemies one by one; making more enemies in the process than he bargained for...He is shocked when a young and pretty lady named Jhanvi (Ayesha Takia Azmi) confesses her liking to him. Inspector Talpade's (Mahesh Manjrekar) lustful eyes fall on Jhanvi. He has no idea that she has a soft corner for Radhe.

Whether it's the Golden Gang or Data Pawle's Gang; everybody wants the biggest piece of Mumbai and the only way to get it is to eliminate who ever stands in their way. As Mumbai goes under a dangerous gang war, Commissioner Ashraf Khan vows to make the city free of crime and starts a campaign by catching 200 criminals in a single day.

It's a free for all with gangsters from rival gangs out to get each other and the police out to get all of them. And in a surprising twist, Radhe becomes the most wanted man in Mumbai.

Radhe is stuck in a situation where the gangsters want him dead because he knows too much while the police want him alive because they're desperate to know what he know

Bachna Ae Haseeno movie review
Raj (Ranbir Kapoor) has commitment issues. He wants to be with a girl only till the point it is fun. He meets Mahi (Minissha Lamba) on a trip in Switzerland, flirts with her, shamelessly breaks her heart and moves on. Few years later he meets Radhika (Bipasha Basu), a model. They have a happy ...
The movie Bachna Ae Haseeno is produced by big banner Yashraj Films and is directed by Siddarth Anand hence there are great expectations, but just to keep you informed there has been an attempt to make the film different, but yet seems to have resemblance to the 1965 movie named Teen Devian (Starring Dev Anand, Nanda, Kalpana & Simi Garewal).

The movie is all about a casanova character with three women through different stages of in his life. He ditches two of them only to be dumped by the third. In the process he happens to learn the facets of love and of life. The first affair is in the early teens where Raj (Ranbir Kapoor) meets Mahi (Minnissha Lamba) in Switzerland wherein the duo misses the train and left into each others company. The second affair is in the twenties where Raj who is working in Mumbai, has a live-in relationship with a sexy babe Radhika ( Bipasha Basu) and does not want to be committed. He ditches her and moves to Australia. The third affair is in the thirties with Gayatri ( Deepika Padukone) a cab driver, who is not at all interested in Raj.

It’s Gayatri’s ‘NO’, which makes Raj ponder over his past and he is overcome by guilt. He decides to go back to his ex-girlfriends with an intention of seeking forgiveness from them. Only to find Mahi married to Joginder ( Kunal Kapoor) and having two kids. Mahi isn’t happy with the marriage, Raj does his part and manages to reunite the couple in love. Radhika is now a star called Shreya, on seeing Raj she gets more infuriated. She is hell bent on teaching Raj a lesson and no amount of cajoling or apologizing seems to work. Does Raj get forgiveness or not? How do Mahi & Radhika react?

Bachna Ae Haseeno somehow seems to lack the romance formulation of Yashraj Films and the screen play doesn’t seem great with a lot of disconnect in the on-screen events. The director Siddarth Anand offers great visuals and has managed to pull some fine performances. Vishal-Shekhars music is okay with interludes from R D Burmans compositions. With stunning locales of Australia and Switzerland the cinematography by Sunil Patel is worth a mention. Dialogues have been great.

Ranbir Kapoor has surely stolen all the limelight with his performance and is likely to set many hearts on flutter this time without dropping a towel. Among the ladies, its Bipasha Basu who clearly stands out and there is no trace of the much spoken age difference factor their on-screen chemistry is sizzling, she is just getting into right roles now. Minnissha Lamba has scored a point in the emotional scenes. Deepika Padukone has got a raw deal as her role is not that convincing, but she surely looks stunning. Kunal Kapoor has carried out his part efficiently.

You could also possibly feel sprinkled traces of DDLJ, Salaam Namaste in the film. On the whole Bachna Ae Haseeno has a catchy interesting first half, weak and clumsy second half. A much stronger second half would have given the movie a much better chance at box-office, especially to justify the hype created which was created in the promos.

This tale of turbans, twists and tricks will make your heart go " Hadippa!
Veera (Rani Mukherjee) is a fire-cracker of a girl who lives in a small village. She works in a local theatre group but dreams of playing cricket in the big league. Yes, believe it or not, she wants to play with Tendulkar and Dhoni for India!

Soon, Veera falls in love with Rohan, but only until Soniya (Sherlyn Chopra) comes into the picture. What follows is a big roller-coaster journey with Veera, Rohan and Veera's alter ego Veer! The movie is filled with music, romance and comedy!

Yet another release from Yash Raj Films, Dil Bole Hadippa is a sporty-romantic tale starring Shahid Kapoor and Rani Mukherji. The Anurag Singh directed movie has a lot of hype and expectations surrounding it. Sharing the screen space for the first time, do Shahid and Rani create onscreen magic?

Dil Bole Hadippa is about a lively vivacious girl Veera (Rani Mukherjee), who has immense passion for cricket and dreams of playing it big someday with Tendulkar and Dhoni for India. Since India has been losing the Aaman Cup for 8 consecutive years to Pakistan, Vicky (Anupam Kher) handover the captaincy to son Rohan. Rohan (Shahid Kapoor), an accomplished captain of a county cricket team in England, makes a new team to take India to victory. Veera finally finds a getaway for her dreams and puts up the disguise of a man, Veer Pratap Singh, and earns herself a place in Rohan's team. What follows is a twisty - tricky tale of romance, passion and comedy between Veera, Rohan and Veer (disguise).

Dil Bole Hadippa is a confused tale - with passion for cricket as its main backdrop, it blends in patriotism, romance, jealousy and many more varied emotions. Apart from the several loose ends in the script, DBH lacks excitement much like Rani's Tara Rum Pum.

The first half of the movie is slow paced, but does have a moment or two worth of chuckles and a sizzling item number by Rakhi Sawant. Post interval the movie takes a romantic angle but before you could even realize, it completely takes up cricket and patriotism. Climax is just another run-of-a-mill kind but Veera's speech about allowing girls to dream is touching.

Music by Pritam is very Punjabi and enjoyable.

Shahid and Rani share sweet chemistry, as a couple they are very likeable. But the romantic portion in the movie isn't convincing enough. Cheesy dialogues just to prove one's desi-pan gets annoying. Sherlyn Chopra and Rakhi Sawant in limited roles, indulge in skin-show.

Finally, what makes DBH worth a watch is Rani Mukherji. The pretty actress has lost loads of weight and appears briefly in a bikini top in the title track as the credits roll. To her credit, she makes the two characters feel distinctly different and puts across a very lovable performance. Shahid Kapoor has limited scope, but his performance grows on you towards the end of the second half. Anupam Kher and Dalip Tahil were good in their respective roles.

Whats Your Raashee movie review

Ashutosh Gowariker's films are synonymous with A.R. Rahman's tunes, but for his "What's Your Rashee?", which has Priyanka Chopra and Hurman Baweja in lead roles, the director has got on board a new composer, Sohail Sen - who has done a commendable job.

From fast pacy numbers to romantic songs to Arabic and folk tunes - Sen, son of music composer Sameer Sen, has packed interesting compostions in the album.

The film has 13 songs, one each for the 12 zodiac signs and one is a mix of all. The young composer has roped in the director as well has his sister Aslesha to sing.

The album kickstarts with a pleasing and soft number "Jao na" crooned by Sen himself along with Tarannum Malik. It is quite intriguing and the part where the song suddenly gains momentum works well for it. It will surely appeal to the younger generation.

Up next is "Aaja lehrate" that has vocals by Shaan and Bhavya Pandit. It is quite fast-paced and has western influences with English lyrics thrown in here and there. But the peppy number doesn't stand out in the album.

"Bikhri bikhri", sung by Sohail Sen and Marianne D. Cruz, will have a tranquilizing effect on you. A soft, soothing and melodious number, it immediately strikes a chord with the listener.

Then we have "Mannunga mannunga". Director Ashutosh Gowariker himself goes behind the mike along with Pamela Jain to sing the song. But the track is unappealing and unexciting.

"Sau janam", a love ballet by Udit Narayan, Madhushree and Sen, is one of the best songs in the album. A mushy number, it has a strong musical backing and stays with you long after. A great composition.

Next in line is "Aa le chal". Sung by Aslesha Gowariker, it is nothing extraordinary. An average number.

"Pyaari pyaari" is another feel-good song with some amount of sweetness in it. It is crooned by Alka Yagnik and Sen.

Then there is "Su che". Soaked in Gujarati flavour, it is sung by Sen and Bela Shende and is a fact-paced track. It was meant to be a fun song but fails to make a mark.

The next number, "Salone kya", is a song with an Arabic feel. It is sung by Sen and Tarannum Malik. Even though the music is captivating, the lyrics are a big put off and take away the zing from the song.

"Dhadkan dhadkan" has edgy music with a strong musical backing. Once again Sen and Tarannum team up for the song that has a haunting feel to it. The number does impress.

"Pal pal jisko dhoonde" has influences of jazz music. A soft and free flowing number, it is sung by Sen.

"Koi Jaane na" is an interesting number sprinkled with folk flavour. A poignant song, it is sung very well by Rajab Ali Bharti and Bela.

Finally, there is "Chehra jo dekhe hain" by Sen again that is the title track of the film. The song includes samples from the other 12 songs.

On the whole "What's your Raashee?" is a decent album, even though long. The budding composer has done a good job.
There are enough heart-melting moments in this lengthy treatise on how not to go bride-hunting for money's sake, to make Ashutosh Gowariker's reputation as a filmmaker. His films constantly ventures into areas of filmmaking that seem at first commonplace but actually secrete the most valuable truths of life.
Finding the dream girl is tough enough. Finding her in a hurry is even tougher.

What's Your Raashee? is based on a Gujarati novel Kimball Ravenswood by Madhu Rye.

The story revolves around a young Gujarati man, Yogesh Patel (Harman Baweja), in pursuit of his dream girl. And ..

After films like ‘Lagaan’, ‘Swades’ and ‘Jodha Akbar’, you were surely not expecting something like this from Ashutosh Gowariker. It was expected that ‘What’s Your Raashee’ would be a lengthy affair, but this long!! It could have easily been made more watchable, if it had lesser songs, the marriage agent's illicit affair was done away with and the editing was tight. Coming down to the 12 characters based on the 12 different rashees (sun signs), only some of them seem credible, while the rest were simply unconvincing.

Somewhere along the rashees and their traits, Ashutosh Gowariker also ended up bringing in social issues, such as dowry and child marriage (which was simply not required). With this movie, Gowariker made his first attempt at a romantic comedy and there are many funny scenes in the movie, with subtle humor (thankfully, it’s not slapstick). Even the cinematography of the movie is very good. The hitherto unexplored locales of Mumbai have been beautiful shot and bring in much realism to the movie.

One serious flaw with ‘What’s Your Raashee’ is that the characters have not been properly etched. How we wish some more time would have been given to the conversation between Yogesh and the 12 girls (cutting out the unnecessary songs). By the time, the meetings come to an end; you are no longer interested in knowing the girl that Yogesh finally chose. Many-a-times, cinematic liberties have been taken. Even the excessive use of comic formulas (like that of a stupid don) mars the film’s prospects.

‘What’s Your Raashee’ is a film based on performances, rather than story. And in this context, you cannot help but applaud Piggy Chops. The efforts she has put in bringing across 12 different characters shows and is praiseworthy. Even Harman Baweja came across as an improved version of his earlier flicks. However, still he could not come up to the level of Priyanka. As for, Darshan Jariwala, Anjan Shrivastava, and Pratik Dixit, they lent able support to the main leads. All in all, we will surely not recommend this one for a multiplex watch.

What’s Your Raashee Pre-release Review
Do you believe in sun signs and astrology? Are you one of those who believe that marrying a person whose sun sign is compatible with yours will ensure that the union is blissful and will last long? Is yes, then Ashutosh Gowariker’s upcoming flick ‘What’s Your Raashee’, based on Madhu Rye’s Gujarati novel ‘Kimball Ravenswood’, is surely a must-watch for you. It revolves around the concept of the sun and the moon (in terms of astrology) playing an important role in romance, through your raashee.

‘What’s Your Raashee’ has Priyanka Chopra and Hurman S. Baweja in the lead role, with Anjan Shrivastava, Visswa Badola, Rajesh Vivek, Dilip Joshi, Daya Shankar Pandey, Honey Chhaya, Darshan Jariwala, Manju Singh, Bhairavi Vaidya, Pratik Dixit, Manoj Shah, Dr. Ajit Kulkarni, Geeta Tyagi making the rest of the star cast. It has been produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Sunita A. Gowariker and will be released on September 25, 2009. The music for the Hindi film has been provided by Sohail Sen, with Javed Akhtar being the lyricist.

Falling in the genre of comedy and romance, ‘What’s Your Raashee’ takes us into the life of Yogesh Patel (Hurman S. Baweja). Just like most of the youngsters today, he believes in the concept of love marriage. However, one fine day, he is told to fast-forward his search for the ‘dream girl’ and get married within the next ten days. Otherwise, his family would get completely ruined. As it is, Yogesh was facing a difficulty in finding the ‘perfect bride’. But, doing it in a hurry puts him in an even tighter spot.

After much deliberation, Yogesh comes up with a solution - he will meet twelve girls, one from each of the twelve raashees. The meetings will take place over the period of next six days, which means that he will meet two girls in one day. He feels that this way, not only would he be able to find a suitable wife, but also give himself twelve chances to fall in love. In the next three days, Yogesh will decide whom he wants to get married to and have his wedding on the tenth day. Will he fall in love? If yes, with whom? Will his wedding take place?

Knot Disturb movie review

Do Knot Disturb is a comedy movie which is based on a rich businessman who wants to hide his extra marital affair with a supermodel. He bribes a waiter into pretending to be the model's boyfriend. Mistaken identities and misunderstandings follow which are sDavid Dhawan and Govinda are back in what should be their 18th film together. Do Knot Disturb, apart from Govinda, features Ritesh Deshmukh, La

Besides the various promotional videos, the unique marketing strategy that the producers used called 'flash mobs' that create an idea of the Do Knot Disturb storyline with live entertainment on the streets of Delhi and Mumbai has undoubtedly left many thirsty for more. Also, this is the first time two Miss Universe winners will be working together. But with all the curiosity generated, is this new outing of David Dhawan as hilarious as his previous works?

Do Knot Disturb is a typical David Dhawan comedy - full of errors. An insanely rich businessman (Govinda) is married to a rich and gorgeous woman (Sushmita Sen). Govinda is involved in an extra martial relationship with a super model played by Lara Dutta. To save his marriage, he bribes his waiter friend (Ritesh Deshmukh) to be the supermodel's boyfriend. What follows is a crazy laugh riot that falls short of expectations.

Do Knot Disturb lacks an in-depth storyline; in fact the script is half-baked, but the many parallel stories running with each of its character, makes it a 'knotty and shoddy' affair. The initial reels start off
well with its share of comic moments that are fun. But as the movie proceeds, the sequences get very clumsy and with no story to tell the screenplay breaks into a song every now and then without rhyme or reason. The laughs are not consistent and the movie tends to give you a feel of monotony as you find the same gags repeat it. You have actors yelling at the top of their voices or breaking into female tones, apparently supposed to be funny but all it does is giving you a scorching headache.

The outdated situational jokes like the dead body of the detective going around the hotel and some faulty characterizations like the crazy angry ex-boyfriend are a huge turn-off. And if this is not painful enoug
h, every now and then you also witness the mother-son family drama that is so tacky. Not just that, despite the characters repeatedly mention the place Delhi, the movie doesn't seem to have been shot in the capital city of India, too many cinematic liberties like in every Dhawan movie. The climax is pathetic. The movie suddenly jumps to an abrupt and absurd ending. Dialogues come as a saving grace sometimes. From detergents to cosmetics to electronic goods, everything is used to phrase some uniquely funny dialogues. Music is mediocre, but as mentioned earlier is totally out-of-focus.

Coming to the performances, everyone overacts. With Govinda-Ritesh-Ranvir sharing screens pace, we except some brilliant comic timing, while they are good, all you get is just a handful of laughter. Govinda is good in some scenes but otherwise is horribly over the top. Ritesh Deshmukh does well. As for the ladies, Sushmita in her extended special appearance looks plump. Lara Dutta hams

Acid Factory movie review

Acid Factory is about a group of characters whose sense of past has vanished in a haze of coma like they have woken up from sleep only to discover that reality could be a figment of their imagination.

Their sense of right or wronOur memory is the source of all emotions. It is also the source of our guilt. What if a killer would wake up one day with his memory erased? Would his crimes cease to exist? What if an innocent wakes up one with his memory erased and perceives himself to be a criminal? Would that change his perception of reality is heightened by this state of completeAcid Factory', or rather the filmmaker's attempt at making this film, is a bit dismal. Not many directors in the Hindi film industry give preference to content over magnanimous cast of the film. To rely on the story is a dangerous game in filmmaking but likes of Ram Gopal Verma have done it well. Even the biggest filmmaker, when relying exceedingly on stars carrying the movie, are bound to eat the dust some day. It's happened to Raj Kapoor and down to the last showman Subhash Ghai.

Suparn Verma belongs to the lot of star-awed filmmakers. His slick and edge of the seat thriller 'Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena' gave a new life to a top 5 star of today, Saif Ali Khan. Saif may not have found time to work with Suparn again. But the fact is that Suparn's debut film as a director opened a window for filmmakers to take some misfits and a good story and rake in money at box office.

Suparn tries the same formula again, this time with an ensemble cast of which most are on the sidelines of the glam world. A good story and some stars with ready-to-give-it-back feeling always make an energetic combination to crack the box office code. The director has belief in his story line and the actors have belief in their delivery. Suparn Verma manages to pass the litmus test once again as Director with his formula.Like his other work, as storywriter and screenplay writer, 'Acid Factory' relies heavily on western style filmmaking. People already liken Suparn's style to Hollywood filmmaking where formula and not creativity take precedence. The bottom line is to satisfy your viewers. Suparn and 'Acid Factory' do that for a particular audience!

'Acid Factory' does have a somewhat confusing storyline. An Indian commoner who does not read novels of Ayn Rand or Mario Puzo may find it difficult to keep track of sequences and chain of events. A group of people finding themselves in an 'Acid Factory' and not able to remember where they have come from, makes a good plot to start with. The character establishment work take a dragging trail but once it unfolds and people get going, the film again gathers momentum. As a Director, Suparn Verma does do well. 'Acid Factory' may not be as engrossing as his last 'Ek Khiladi EK Haseena' but theme of the film is far better than his last films as writer i.e. 'Ugly Aur Pagli', 'Karma', 'Janasheen' and other. In Sanjay Gupta, Suparn finds a producer with common likes and the two team up well to deliver a glossy thriller that will be liked by the urbane audience much.

Among actors, Danny comes back as a surprise factor after 'Chamku'. His presence lifts the screen to a new level; he is one of the few stars of bygone era with an aura that separates a common actor from a star in the viewers' mind. Manoj Bajpai and Irfaan Khan come second on the performance rankings. While Irfaan has now started to just repeat himself again and again (though still liked by viewers), Manoj Bajpai has learned lessons from his failures and is trying to keep the histrionics away.

Aftab Shivdasani and Fardeen Khan try hard to match their best abilities to those of the other fine actors in the movie. Neha Dhupia is taken over by Dia Mirza completely, among females, with the latter trying to prove a point that she is still around and not faded in the history. Suparn also gets good help from his technicians, especially his cinematographer and stunt director. The film's looks are rich and the film has all the ingredients to click with multiplex audience. This may help in getting business in metros but it may also harm its prospects in semi urban areas and small towns.
Our memory is the source of all emotions. It is also the source of our guilt.

What if a killer would wake up one day with his memory erased?

Would his crimes cease to exist?

What if an innocent wakes up one day with his memory erased and perceives himself to be a criminal?

Would that change his perception of reality?

Faltering memory continually alters the constancy of truth. Short term memory loss denies you of an identity throwing you into an abyss of excruciating agony.

Acid Factory is about a group of characters whose sense of past has vanished in a haze of coma like sleep they have woken up from only to discover that reality could be a figment of their imagination.

Their sense of right or wrong is heightened by this state of complete distrust and self righteousness.

As the story reveals through the hazy mist of confusion confounded by loss off memory, the audience is just shown the tip of the iceberg.

A high octane thriller where every second counts and every flash of your past is either a step towards realization of the true self or the horror of the discovery of who you really are. And then the games begin as our characters start to create stories just so that they can stay in the right but what if a roomful of people realize the majority is evil?

Wouldn't your instinct of survival dictate you too renounce yourself to evil to survive? Acid Factory plays out as a thriller, a morality play on the inside and a cat and mouse chase on the outside. This purports to be a mother of a thriller which will have you on the edge of your seat and in most probability rooting for the wrong guy.

Our money is the source of all emotions. It is also the source of our guilt. What if a killer wakes up one day with his memory erased? Would his crime cease to exist? What if an innocent guy wakes up one day with his memory wiped out and perceives himself to be a criminal? Would that perception change his reality? Faltering memory continually alters the constancy of truth....
