Jashnn movie review
On every street, in every home, somewhere in India, there is a 'nobody' who wants desperately to be a 'somebody'. Jashn is the story of one such nobody... Akash Verma, a twenty year old Indian lad, thirsts to become a singing icon that can blaze a trail for himself among the galaxy of existing stars. But though he has dreams in his heart, he has been unable to find that distinctive voice that he can call his own, that will propel him to the top. Only when he's shattered by life and unflinchingly looks at the sordid truth straight in the face - that he is freeloading off his elder sister Nisha, who, in order to offer him a decent life style, has become the mistress of a rich businessman, Aman Bajaj; is he is able to touch his inner core. Call it irony or a twist of fate, but the person who sees him through this dark night and mentors him when he's down and out is none other than the sister of the person who he hates most in the world... Aman Bajaj. It is Sara, Aman's sister, who makes him realize that he is an extremely talented man who is simply going through a bad phase and that the biggest crime a human being can commit, is to give up on himself. Spurred by life's bittersweet lessons, and Sara's genuine love and support, Akash, in the harshest winter of his life discovers an invincible summer within himself... thereby discovering his own voice. With this very special tune which has been soaked with the passion of his lived life, he not only touches his inexhaustible potential and becomes an overnight star but also brings dignity to his beleaguered sister, humbles his biggest detractor Aman Bajaj and in the process, lives up to the faith that Sara had in him all along.
.Music has always been the high point of films churned out by Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt's Vishesh Films. "Jashnn" too has some nice renditions, which make the soundtrack something to look forward to.

Music composer duo Toshi-Sharib has created six originals and two remixes for the film.

"Aaya re", crooned by KK, starts off slowly but picks up pace and reaches its crescendo in no time. The composition has touches of rock and is a decent number. However, the lyrics could have been more appealing.

Next is "Aish Karle", which has the composers going behind the mike and starts with a few dialogues. Even though the lyrics are mediocre, the powerful music fills the gap.

"Dard-e-tanhai" is a soft rock number sung by Nouman Javaid. The song, which is slow-paced with the electric guitar in prominence, gives listeners a heard-before feeling. It also has a remixed version called the kilogram mix, which is nothing extraordinary.

"Main chala" can be described as the best song in the album. Beautifully sung by Nouman Javaid, the song is highly engaging and has acoustic guitar as the main musical instrument and it pulls at one's heart strings. The song is sure to appeal to music buffs, especially youngsters.

The song later arrives in a minute-long "unplugged version" and doesn't fail to make an impact.

Next comes "Nazrein karam". High on beats, the foot-tapping romantic number is sung by KK and Shreya Ghoshal. It is peppy but fails to impress.

This song too has a remixed version which has the potential to become a dance floor favourite.

Finally, there is "Tum Bin" with Shaan and Shreya. It is a soft, free-flowing romantic number and the singers make it hummable and easy on the ears.

On the whole, Toshi and Shabri have done a good job with the music and reinstated the fact that the Bhatts and quality music go hand-in-hand.
Out of the two big Hindi movies releasing this Friday July 17, 'Jashnn' stands on top because of its score in the fields of music and emotions. The director duo of Raksha Mistry and Hasnain Hyderabadwala succeeds to a great extent in synchronizing the different departments. The writer proves his worth by penning the dialogues and the cast by their excellent performances. The movie centers on Akash Verma played by Adhyayan Suman (son of actor Shekhar Suman). He dreams of becoming an icon from that of a small time club singer. However, he miserably fails and in the meantime decides to fall in love with a girl he just spotted at a coffee shop. He calls her khoobsoorat cheez (sweet stranger)!

The girl is rich yet likes Akash even though the latter is broke. She sells her jewelry for their livelihood. Akash struggles to hit his dream but in vain and quarrels with music companies. This is another matter that he is to blame for the sad story of his life; his relationship with his siblings is no good. But, isn't it a stark reality of life? This may look strange though that a small time singer dreams of becoming too big a singer some day. Isn't the movie following the Bhatts' style? So, the plot looks weak initially; how can a small club singer dream beyond what he is worth. But he proves it wrong later. Similarly, its comparison with Arjun Rampal starrer 'Rock On' because of both being musical we don't find it anywhere close to that inasmuch as Akash' band comprises three other artists but no good.

Meanwhile, Akash luckily or after realization of his limitations, falls for Sara played by charming Anjana Sukhani. She is sister of bhai Aman Bajaj played by Humayun Saeed (from Pakistan) who is the master of Akash' sister. Aman doesn't approve of Akash and Sara's relationship. So, there is hardly any romance in their life. Rather, Shahana Goswami playing Nisha as Aman's mistress, succeeds in enacting romantic scenes though very limited. The story provides no scope for her role. Incidentally, Nisha had become Aman's mistress in order to help her broke brother.

Sara, on the other hand, played by Anjana Sukhan is Aman's sister, who makes Akash realize that he is an extremely talented man and is simply going through a bad phase! In the climax, Akash becomes an overnight star, and lives up to the faith that his sister and Sara had in him all along. That's why in the end, Akash invites his sister on stage and makes her accept the award from none other than Aman Bajaj, who always hated Akash. A good example set by Akash! While analyzing the movie critically, we find that Shagufta Rafique scores in writing the screenplay as well as dialogues. As a result, certain scenes enacted especially during Akash apology to Aman and also his indulgence in looting money, are worth appreciation.

Acting-wise, the movie meets with great success. Though Adhyayan Suman's character is initially weak the actor has performed it very well. He can indeed bank on his bright future. Shahana Goswami looks natural even in her negative character of a mistress. Similarly, Humayun Saeed from Pakistan as Aman Bajaj can look forward to brighter prospects in view of his excellent performance even in a completely negative role. Anjana Sukhani is charming and proves that she shares chemistry with Akash. Camerawork is good too.

Keeping in view all the above factors, we find the movie worth watching.
