Cop Out english movie peview

It's crude. It's rude. And it's downright funny, but only in a down and out way. Bruce Willis sure has come a long way from his Diehard days to replay a cop, albeit in Cop Out style. His NYPD detective act as Jimmy Monroe is in stark contrast to his singlet-wearing, no-nonsense officer John McClane in the Diehard series. But hey, no need to go in for comparisons, are they? Just sit back and have some silly fun as Jimmy teams up with the loud, brattish and uncouth Paul (Tracy Morgan) to bust up a Mexican gang and get back his rare baseball card.

Most of the humour is left to Tracy Morgan who chooses to play it from below the belt. Sometimes he succeeds, sometimes he doesn't. But most of the time, he does have you laughing, even as Willis tries to keep a straight face through it all. The fact that Morgan's unsure of his wife's fidelity only adds to the problem and makes him more testosterone-strung. Add to that a beautiful stowaway who has a language problem and a fetish for chocolate men and you know there's going to be chaos.

Enjoy the nonsensical, one evening....

The Bounty Hunter english movie peview

First things first. Do Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston set the screen on fire with their chemistry? Nope, they don't. Not like Eva Mendes and Will Smith did in Tennant's earlier rom-com, Hitch. Aniston keeps raising her eyebrows and Butler wears a sardonic sneer on his lips amidst the constant sparring that happens between the two. This does make you laugh, now and then, but it doesn't really raise the mercury to boiling point.

So, settle down for a temperate, time-pass comedy as the odd couple discover that its the oddity (read mismatch) that is essentially the highpoint of their relationship. And divorce hasn't managed to dull the ardour, despite the apparent negative vibes between them. Of course, it takes long car rides, where Jennifer must spend most of her time either in the trunk or in handcuffs, and a visit to their honeymoon hotel to make them realise this simple truth. Not forgetting a brush with corrupt cops, shooters and gunmen....Aniston's an investigative reporter, you see, chasing some hot story in high-heels. Doesn't take long for Butler to become her assistant on the beat.

Funny in places, feisty here and there, The Bounty Hunter, is one more middle-of-the-road outing from Jennifer Aniston.

Final word? CHASE is akin to soda. Opens in a lot of fizz, but falls flat thereafter!

Sohail [Anuuj Saxena] is a man on the run. DIG Ranveer [Rajesh Khattar] has vested financial in buying to the foot of a murder in that Sohail is involved. Insp. Siddharth [Samir Kochhar] is the better hand of the DIG, who is monitoring Sohail’s actions.

Enter Nupur [Udita Goswami], who is faced investing in Sohail closely. The larger amount of players of that chase are Surabhee [Tarina Patel], Sohail’s sttink loan and industrialist Mr. Khanna [Aditya Raj Kapoor], for whom currency is the answer of all problems. Also, there is Anthony D’Costa [Gulshan Grover], who is in addition in search engine for the truth.

The hunt for Sohail and search engine for occurence takes us within the streets of Mumbai. The reality has the would&wshyp;be of blowing up the general political method apart. Who is the victim and who is the criminal?

The one and only aspect you carry real estate once watching CHASE are the high-octane chase sequences, acutely the one at the really craft of the film. Otherwise, CHASE harps on the age-old plot at which an innocent man is framed for a murder he hasn’t committed, the corrupt policemen making hand-in-glove through an industrialist, an undercover cop who doubles up as a seductress and the journo-girlfriend who goes the supplementary mile to save her boyfriend. Besides, there is a Live sting operation, the mandatory songs and one or two steamy seconds and a stylized video towards the end.

Chase Movie ReviewDirector Jag Mundhra has try a few sequences well, but the bringing about does not hold. The music is equally functional.

Anuuj tries too hard to act, but can’t. Udita is credible, as always. Tarina Patel seems ill at ease. Gulshan Grover is wasted. Rajesh Khattar infuses livlihood in his part. He’s competent. Ditto for Samir Kochhar, who is equally confident. Aditya Raj Kapoor is fairly good.

On the whole, CHASE lacks face-value as vastly as merits. Besides, amongst an opposition covet HOUSE FULL, CHASE stands no chance.

Just when you thought directors of the stature of Jag Mundra wouldn't fall bait to the copycat syndrome currently afflicting Bollywood, here comes another copy-cat of the 1992 thriller 'Single White Female' directed by the famous American-Iranian film director Barbet Schroeder whose initial film 'Reversal of Fortune' is even better than the Jennifer Jason Leigh and Bridget Fonda starrer 'Single White Female'.
Lately, Jag Mundra has made some decent films, the 2008 Naseeruddin starrer 'Shoot on Sight' and the 2007 Aishwarya starrer 'Provoked' being fairly recent so one is unsure why he had any part in this rip-off of the Hollywood film.

The story is fairly simple; An air-hostess (played by Tanushree Dutta) parts ways with her erring boyfriend (Rohit Roy) and then invites a room-mate to help share the expenses of the apartment. Neetu Chandra, a simpleton from nowhere moves in and all hell breaks loose for poor Tanushree as Neetu the sociopath/psychopath begings to emulate her style, wears her clothes and even tries to steal the boyfriend who wants to patch up. Eventually the film rips off all the scenes from the original, adds in a couple of sleazy scenes of Neetu Chandra bathing (that has been the only way the film has been marketed all across the media) and a dance and seduction song that makes absolutely no sense at all to the overall plot. You'd rather sit home and rent 'Single White Female' that has an equal amount of plot-holes but at least it is redeemed with a nail-biting ending.
Just when we thought Jag Mundra was out of his Vijay Amitraj phase of making cheap B sexploitation films like 'Night Eyes', 'Last Call', 'Eyewitness to Murder' and a slew of others, he returns back with 'Apartment' to square one.

Phoonk 2 hindi movie peview

A phoonk that mere nips at you, gives you goose pimples now and then but never blows you away. In Phoonk 2, Ram Gopal Varma recedes into the shadows and lets writer Milind Gadagkar (who penned Phoonk) step forth and wield the director’s reins. But there’s a great deal of Ramu’s stamp to be seen in the debutant director’s work. It’s as if Ramu turned a ghost director (pun unintended) fo
r this horror film and called the shots from afar.

In a breath, ‘Phoonk 2’ isn’t as scary as one expected. But it does have a few spine chilling moments that can make your ECG go haywire.

Madhu (Ashwini Kal
eskar), the black magic woman who cast a spell on Rajeev’s (Sudeep) daughter in Phoonk, returns from the dead to exact revenge from Rajeev’s family that, not learning from the horrors of the past, moves into a new spacious house in a remote location with a deserted beach on one side and a thick jungle on the other. Eerie things keep happening in and around the place. In the woods, Rajeev’s daughter Raksha finds a strange doll that begins to make movements. Unexplained voices fill the house. Shadows flit in and out. Finally, to cast away any doubts, Rajeev’s wife Aarti (Amruta Khanvilkar) is possessed by the spirit of Madhu.

Much blood is spilled a
nd the body count keeps rising as Madhu’s ghost spooks the family; Rajeev, meanwhile, is reduced to a helpless spectator.

Ram Gopal Varma and writer-director M
ilind Gadagkar know well that you can’t sell the same idea twice to today’s audiences. So the duo does try to add new elements to the story, but by and large, their approach to the genre still remains the same. That building up of the anticipation with background music (loud at times), those heavy silences, the suspense that’s broken with either false alarms or grotesque imagery, or the unconventional camera angles - all the tricks in the repertory have already been tried.

However, a few scenes do send a shiver down your spine. The encounter between the tantric and the evil doll or the sequences in the run-up to the penultimate scene involving Aarti, are scary. Alas, there’s a
shade of affectation in performances by almost everyone, though Sudeep, must be admitted, does well in a few scenes. Neeru Singh, the siren from Prince, hots up the proceeding with her skimpy dresses.

But scarce scares and fleeting temptation don’t really make Phoonk 2 a must-watch. A few frightening moments is all you get

Raajneeti hindi movie review

About Indian democracy. About Indian elections. Above all, it is a story of a few people who control the destiny of millions. It is the story of their unstoppable ambition, and their bitter and violent battle to achieve it. This is the story of people who understand power – and know how to wield it at will.

It is the story of Bhaskar Sanyal (Naseruddin Shah), the fire-brand leftist leader, as feared for his single-handed ability to challenge the most powerful of leaders as he was respected for his political integrity. Until one private mistake of his hurtled him into a self-imposed exile and spawned a secret consequence that shook the destiny of the political future of the state.

And of Sooraj (Ajay Devgan) who rose from the backward classes – with anger in his heart and leadership on his mind. And yet, his destiny could never overcome the tragedy of his birth, trapping him in a terrible dilemma where his loyalty to his friend threatens to destroy his own family. Of Brij Gopal (Nana Patekar), who shunned every political ambition even as he continued to mentor and guide the younger generation of leaders while the battle got bloodier by the day?

It is the story of Prithvi Pratap (Arjun Rampal), heir to a powerful political legacy and impatient to seize the top position. A man with a heart of gold but who is all brawn. A man whose uncontrollable passions bring his family to the brink of political extinction.

And of Veerendra Pratap (Manoj Bajpai), whose lunge at the throne was thwarted even as he was within striking distance of it. A man who believes he was born to rule, and who will now stop at absolutely nothing to claw his way back to the top.

Of Indu Sakseria (Katrina Kaif), the princess – beautiful, passionate, arrogant. She had only one all-consuming love. Little did she know that her personal happiness was dependent on the changing electoral fortunes of her love, and that even a slight shift in the faultiness of political negotiation would cause a devastating earthquake in her personal life? And yet, this spirited never-say-die diva rose from the ashes of her tragedy to challenge every contender, over-turning the political future of the state.

Of Sarah Jean Collins (Sarah Thompson), who came from one of the bloodiest and most violent places of earth? Who escaped from there, bruised, hurt, and fell in love with a soul-mate who shared a similar legacy. And her abhorrence for it. And yet, when he was sucked into his destiny, this innocent bewildered girl’s private world was thrown asunder.

And, it is the story of Samar Pratap (Ranbir Kapoor), the ultimate outsider. The apolitical conscientious objector, who got reluctantly sucked into the battle-ravaged arena of family rivalry. Only to turn into a master of the craft of political warfare. It is the story of the woman that he loved, and the one that loved and lost him. It is the story of his determined and fierce fight to protect his family. Of the bloodiest of final battles in a war alien to his character. It is the story of a man’s descent into the moral hell that is Indian politics.

raajneeti3 Watch free online Rajneeti (2010) Hindi movie Trailer Bollywood Film review cast photos It is the story of a fiercely fought election campaign, where money-power and corruption are the accepted norms, and where treachery and manipulation are routinely used weapons. As the personal drama of these conflict-ridden characters unfolds against this gritty backdrop, love and friendship become mere baits, and relationships get sacrificed at the altar of political alignments. The darkness that rises from their soul threatens to envelope all that they hold precious. Until eventually, in the crescendo of increasing violence, the line between good and evil blurs, making it impossible to distinguish heroes from villains.

Raajneeti is the story of Indian democracy. And its ugly underside. It is about politics. And beyond.

Raajneeti is a story about Indian politics. About the Indian democracy. About Indian elections. Above all, it is the story of a few people who control the destiny of millions. It is the story of their unstoppable ambition, and their bitter and violent battle to achieve it. This is the story of people who understand power – and wield it at will. Its about the ugly underside of politics in India.

Filmmaker Prakash Jha, who has a penchant for realistic cinema, says his upcoming dark political drama “Raajneeti” on which he has been working since the past four years, is his most complete film ever:

“And it has been a long journey. It is a film about politics and tries to cover most aspects involved in politics – personal, family, social, state, national. Basically, the film tries to showcase what happens in politics. And I would say this is my most complete film,” Jha told reporters at a press conference.

The film features an impressive ensemble cast with actors such as Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Nana Patekar, Manoj Bajpai, Arjun Rampal, Naseeruddin Shah and Ajay Devgn playing major roles.

The filmmaker, who also contested the Lok Sabha elections from West Champaran in Bihar last year, says he has had a fulfilling experience working with each and every member of the cast, including the “badmaash” Ranbir and Katrina.

“I am grateful to god that Ranbir agreed to play this role. He has put in days and nights of effort to play his character and he has done it with utmost honesty. He is one of my dearest actors and I really thank god for giving me Ranbir for this film,” said Jha, as Ranbir bent down to touch his feet out of respect.

Jha was all praise for Katrina Kaif, who overcame her difficulty in speaking Hindi and delivered her dialogues with clarity even in front of a gathering of 10,000 people.

“Katrina is inspiring. Her quality of work, innocence, honesty and dedication is extremely inspiring. The movie was very tough for Katrina and it took her a lot of courage and confidence to essay the role, give it her best. It’s my good luck that I cast her,” he said.

Though Katrina’s simple and sari-clad look in the film has been attracting queries about the resemblance of her character with Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Jha said: “The film is not based on any political party or follows any ideology. It is a film that is based on reality of the politics.”

City of Gold hindi movie re
view

There is no room for artifice in Mahesh Manjrekar’s latest work. A raw, gritty look at the world of the ravaged, “City Of Gold” is as powerful in portraying a bereft working class as “Molly Maguires” was about Irish mine workers… Except for the fact that there is no room for pretty visuals in “City Of Gold”.

Manjrekar’s chawl-life, captured on camera with merciless frankness by Ajit Reddy, is a bleak world of dreamers and losers who are often the one and the same. His heroes (if we may call the young characters that) are offered no hope of solace or redemption. This is the side of the slum that Danny Boyle missed when he made “Slumdog Millionaire”.

“City Of Gold” is neither stylish nor swanky enough to attract elitist readings of poverty. Fiercely radical in thought and intensely socialistic in execution, the film plunges beneath the poverty line to em
erge with characters whose despair is not an act for the camera. The sweat and grime, the corruption and crime are characters of their own in Manjrekar’s chaotic world.

Mumbai never looked murkier and less inviting.

Taking a panoramic look at the lives of thousands of mill workers in Mumbai who went on an indefinite strik
e in 1982 is like trying to hold the ocean in a tea cup. Manjrekar, in what could easily be rated as his finest, most cogent work to date, does just that.

He holds a universe in the eye of the camera. It is a world of the doomed and damned, no frills attached.

His return to fine form
and the enrapturing energy level that sweeps across a multitude of lives without trivializing any of the characters are reasons enough to celebrate the joys of neo-realistic cinema.

But wait… “City Of Gold”
not only marks the return of a storyteller who tells it like it is, without the comfort of shortcuts. It’s also a macroscopic look at people who populate the fringes. Their silent protests are seldom heard in cinema.

Not for a second do we fe
el any comforting distance from the misery of Manjrekar’s characters.

Manjrekar shoots his characters’ emotions in tight, comprehensive close-ups but wastes no time shedding excessive tears over their lives. The editor (Sarvesh Parab) cuts the raw material with ruthless economy, le
aving no room for humbug and certainly no space for commercial embellishments.

So the question, what happened to those thousands of mill workers who were overnight rendered bankrupt after the
mills closed down? You will find some uncomfortable answers in “City Of Gold”. But most of the time you will be faced with questions about the quality of life we choose to hand over to those who are economically and emotionally weak.

Would this film have w
orked without the actors who don’t look like they are facing a camera? The whole batallion of characters flicker to life as though they were a part of an extended family shot by hidden cameras for a reality show.

Fly Me to the Moon english movie review

Supposedly the first Hollywood animation feature in 3D (it's a 2008 film), Fly Me To The Moon is a sassy adventure film, with a political underpinning. Of course, the politics of the film may be lost on the young audience but for the adults who accompany them, the conflict between the three Am
erican astronaut flies and the envious Russian winged villain, Yegor does have enough fire power to keep the drama zingy.

But the stor
y essentially belongs to the natty pre-teen, Nat and his buddies, IQ and Scooty, who create a fly-sized rocket in a field across Cape Canaveral, the launch pad for Apollo 11. Nat is inspired by his grandfather who supposedly saved Amelia Earhart as she flew across the Atlantic on her historic flight and has brought his grandfly up on a credo that declares that dreamers don't actually end up getting swatted....

It doesn't take long for Nat to realise his dreams can't take wings on a fly-sized rocket. They need something bigger, like the helmets of the astronauts aboard Apollo 11. The friends hitch-hike a flight into outer space by sneaking into the helmets of Aldrin, Armstrong and Collins and make history of their own. Nat even manag
es to set wings on the moon as he is the lucky fly who buzzes in Armstrong's helmet and the threesome end up as heroes by preventing a short circuit in the space ship. And what do they get for all their troubles? No flies aboard: declares Aldrin on TV after touching back on Earth! Actually, he meant there were no flies on board the real flight. Ha-ha!

Hot Tub Time Machine english movie review

A group of be
st friends have become bored with their adult lives: Adam has been dumped by his girlfriend; Lou is a party guy who can't find the party; Nick's wife controls his every move; and video game-obsessed Jacob won't leave his basement. After a crazy night of drinking in a ski resort hot tub, the men wake up, heads pounding, in the year 1986. This is their chance to..
. Ready for a Hangover that isn't quite so heady? Go for Hot Tub...another male bonding film that sees th
e guys unwind with loads of four letter word fun and games. Of course, the jokes here are less wild and the humour not so uproarious, nevertheless there are some guys-will-be-guys gags that keep the laughter flowing intermittently.

John Cusack and Craig Robinson have enough problems in their lives. Yet, when they find out that their friend Rob Corddry tried to commit suicide (he didn't actually) they decide to give their troubles a go-by and take their depressed friend on a vacation to the ski town where they found love and longing. When a malfunctioning hot tub doubles up as a time machine, they find themselves in the midst of people and situations from the past and try and change the course of events to their advantage. Can they mess with time really? Can they stop their girl friends and wives from cheating on them in the future?

The retro scenes do have a comic feel to it, nevertheless, Hot Tub Time Machine lacks the panache of time travel films like Back To The Future. The laughs too come in fits and starts.

The It's a Wonderful Afterlife english movie review

It set me thinking as reel after reel of Gurinder Chadha's It's A Wonderful Afterlife unspooled. We (the Bollywood revie
wers/critics) are extremely harsh on films produced on hometurf. We go hammer and tongs after these film-makers, as if they have committed a crime that they cannot be absolved of. We tend to ridicule films, its makers, the actors in those films… In fact, just about everyone associated with those films.

Buzz up!
How about using the sam
e yardstick for movies attempted by names that command tremendous respect in the West? We forgive them, most of the time. We even turn a blind eye, ignoring the deficiencies only because the West holds them in high esteem. The thought crosses our mind pretty often: Wouldn't we come across as complete nincompoops if we ridiculed them, even if they turn up with pure trash?

I am not going to mince words. With It's A Wonderful Afterlife, celebrated filmmaker Gurinder Chadha hits a new
low. It actually makes me wonder, was Bend It Like Beckham a fluke? It's A Wonderful Afterlife is so insipid and hollow that it makes her previous film Bride & Prejudice, considered by many as her weakest film, look like an epic in comparison.

Final word? It's A Wonderful Afterlife had everything going in its favour. But let's not forget that great vegetables
don't necessarily make a yummy meal. This Gurinder Chadha curry is just not palatable!

Mrs. Sethi (Shabana Azmi), a widow, can't bear the thought of her daughter being alone and unhappy. When Mrs. Sethi can no longer stomach the rudeness of families who refuse her daughter, she takes matters into her own hands with the only way she knows... Suddenly a police hunt begins for a serial murderer.

Mrs. Sethi doesn't feel too guilty until the spirits of her victims come back to haunt her, as they are unable to be reincarnated until their murderer dies. Mrs. Sethi has no problem killing herself - she'll get to see her de
ad husband again - but how can she go before her daughter is married? The spirits realize that helping Mrs. Sethi find a suitable husband for her daughter, before the police catch her, is their only chance for a wonderful afterlife.

On paper, perhaps, the story of It's A Wonderful Afterlife may sound tempting and alluring. At least I found it attention-grabbing when I first heard it, several weeks ago. But sitting through those 1.40 hours of this cinematic journey is an ordeal. Seriously, what were writers Chadha and Paul Mayeda Berges thinking when they wrote the screenplay? Barely a few minutes into the film, you realize that Chadha has lost the plot already.

To state that the screenplay is shoddy would be putting it mildly. The only aspect that's amusing and which bears the unmistakable stamp of Chadha are the sequences between Shabana and the spirits. The love story is a tota
l yawn, while the emotional moments are weak and the investigation of the murders is half-baked too. In fact, an investigating officer gets killed in the backyard of Shabana's home and guess what, the crime is conveniently forgotten, except when Senthil talks about it to Shabana. And why the beaten to death 'cancer' end? Gurinder seems to be watching too many (terrible) Bollywood films, seems like.

Talking of performances, Shabana is dependable, as always. Goldy Notay as Shabana's daughter is efficient. Sendhil Ramamurthy is alright. Jimi Mistry doesn't get ample scope. Sally Hawkins is first-rate. Mark Addy is passable. Sanjeev Bhaskar is wonderful. Shaheen Khan and Zoe Wanamaker (Shabana's next-door-neighbour) are decent.

The Back-up Plan english movie review

The Back-up Plan is one of the ten most terrifying movie experiences of my life. The other nine movies on that list are a motley and varied assortment of everything from M. Night Shyamalan to Hitchcock, yet this one is in a class of its own. I can only assume from the bubble-gum pop blaring out of the theater’s speakers that it was director Alan Paul’s intention to create another one of those bland Jennifer Lopez romantic comedies which seem to do so well. But replace The Back-up Plan’s secretary rock score with music composed mostly of chillingly high-pitched string instruments and you’d have the scariest movie of the year.

PRDUCERS’ NOTE
What began as a simple extension of my relationship with Sajid Khan who is like a brother to me, while making “Heyy Baby” in 2006 changed complexion, when the simple, feel good film we set out to make turned into a hugely successful film that was a money spinner at the box office.

Making the next film with the same team was not an endeavor but an organic transition but the question was what do we do now? How do we reinvent ourselves and do something that will be better than Heyy Babyy in all aspects?

As a team we have managed to get an unbelievingly ensemble cast that reunites Akshay and Ritesh from “Heyy Babyy” and also has Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta, Arjun Rampal, Jiah Khan, Boman Irani, Chunkey pandey and Lillete Dubey in short a “Housefull”.

But most certainly the “Heyy Babyy” team comes completely reloaded with a bigger and definitely more madder, funnier film than the last outing. As a producer I have made sure that the cast, canvas and music is far bigger than the audience’s expectation ? the film has been shot with the entire cast over four countries England, Italy, Hong Kong and India.

DIRECTOR’S NOTE
I love films! I worship entertaining films!! I bow down to entertaining films, which are blockbusters!!! The reason why a film becomes a blockbuster is because the audience accepts that film with open arms and watches it more than once. This means that particular film has succeeded in entertaining the audiences. And isn’t that what movies are all about – entertainment? I’m happy to say that Housefull is one such film. After the mega success of my first film – Heyy Babyy, the audience expectations towards me have increased and at no cost will I ever let my audience down. I consider myself extremely fortunate to be working with my best friend and producer Sajid Nadiadwala who’s as passionate about cinema as I am and a completely involved producer.

Akshay, Ritesh, Arjun, Deepika, Lara, Jiah, Mallaika, Boman, Dabooji, Chunkey, Lilette are all friends and it’s always amazing to work with friends. Unlike certain film-makers who make films for themselves rather than an audience, I make films from an audience point of view. My name is Sajid Khan and I only know one thing- How to entertain an audience. I promise you that the words “paisa vasool” will be in full effect when you watch ‘Housefull’. See you at the theatres? book soon. It will be HOUSEFULL.

Badmaash Company hindi movie review

Life in the 1990's was remarkably different for the average Indian. Consumerism had not set in. It was devoid of most of the luxuries of the West. In fact everything "imported" was good, and everything Indian, passe.

Badmaash Company is an extraordinary story set in the 1990's in middle class Bombay (as it was known then), of four ordinary youngsters (Shahid Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Meiyang Chang and Vir Das), who came together to start an import business of things longed for by yuppie Indians!

What made their venture such a stupendous success was the fact that they found a way to beat the system and soon became the undisputed kings in their business, realizing their one dream of making quick money by doing all the wrong things... the right way!

Living the life of champagne wishes and caviar dreams, the four friends discover that to make a business successful you don't need big money.

All you need is a big idea!

With their larger than life schemes, Karan, Bulbul, Zing and Chandu go on a wild roller-coaster ride into the world of sheer glitz and glamour where the stakes are high and risks even higher!

All was well and hunky dory till one day the four maverick entrepreneurs are forced to shut shop... until they come up with yet another perfect plan to beat the system...

Just one more time...!

Hai Marjawaan hindi movie review

Finding the perfect son-in-law can be murder"

My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Shaun of the Dead meet in this charming comedy romp about an Indian-Punjabi mother taking her obsession with marriage into frighteningly funny territory.

Mrs Sethi, a widow, can't bear the thought of her only daughter being alone and unhappy. Okay, she's a little plump and opinionated...but she would make a great wife for some lucky man, if only she were given a chance. When Mrs Sethi can no longer stomach the rudeness of families who refuse her daughter, she takes matters into her own hands with the only way she knows...Suddenly a police hunt begins for a serial murderer who cooks a killer curry.

Mrs Sethi doesn't feel too guilty until the spirits of her victims come back to haunt her as they are unable to be reincarnated until their murderer dies. Mrs Sethi has no problem killing herself - she'll get to see her dead husband again - but how can she go before her beloved daughter is married?

The spirits realize that helping Mrs Sethi's daughter find a suitable husband before the police catch her is their only chance for a wonderful afterlife!

It's a big bloody wedding and a comic feast which takes the phrase 'I could murder a curry' to hysterical new heights.

It's A Wonderful Afterlife is a keenly anticipated "killer romantic comedy" from Gurinder Chadha, the international award-winning director of box office hits like Bhaji On The Beach, Bend It Like Beckham and Bride & Prejudice.

Bumm Bumm Bole hindi movie review

The Indian cinegoers have never been kind to films that have been made exclusively for children. Even though there is an active society for children’s films, cinemas like Makdee, made by successful directors like Vishal Bharadwaj almost vanished from the silver screen without making an impact on the audience. Ironically, the film picked up a couple of awards on the International circle.
‘Taare Zameen Par’ had a child as its protagonist and it did very well in the box office. Sadly, it wasn’t really a film for children, but on family welfare and an illness that usually affected children. The film had a child artist, Darsheel Safary, whose superb acting as a child suffering from Dyslexia, stole the hearts of everyone who watched the film. Darsheel has once again created magic, this time for ‘Bumm Bumm Bole.’

Darsheel and his co-star Ziyah Vastani have both carried the film on their shoulders as there wasn’t much support from the rest of the cast.
The film is a remake of Majid Majidi’s Iranian film, ‘children of heaven’ and has been remodeled to suit the Indian mindset. I have not watched ‘children of heaven’ so I did not compare ‘bumm bumm bole’ to it. I watched the latter as an Indian film, set in the context of India and I thought it was a pretty nice film.

The story is set in a terror stricken zone of India, probably Assam, because somewhere in the film a character mentions Bihu which is the main festival of Assam. The film opens with a scene where a child hawking balloons, is paid some money to deliver a tiffin box to someone and then there is a bomb blast.
Pinu, aka Pinaki (Darsheel Safary) is the son of a tea garden laborer Khogiram (Atul Kulkarni) and his wife (Rituparna Sengupta). They are extremely poor and can barely make both ends meet. The children go to a prestigious school as their father wants to give the best education to his children, something that he had been deprived of, as a child. And this school has its natural requirements of students being neatly and properly dressed.
