What would you expect when two of the biggest stars in Malayalam come together for a commercial entertainer? Nothing short of dynamite!
'Pokkiri Raja' tells the story of two brothers Raja (Mammootty) and Surya (Prithviraj) who have been estranged in childhood. Sons of an idealistic school teacher (Nedumudi Venu), they turn out to be goondas.
Years later, they happen to meet in the most uncharacteristic of circumstances. Will blood prove thicker than water? What are the strange twists that fate has in store for them?
Debutante director Vaisakh's film has all the answers to these questions. The film that marks the coming together of Megastar Mammootty and Young Superstar Prithviraj has an undeniable star power that should draw the audiences to the theatres.
Besides Mammootty and Prithviraj, the film has as its heroine Souther sizzler Shreya Sharan. Shreya who is making her debut in Malayalam has been reportedly paid a fortune for her role.
The film also has Siddiq, Suman, Salim Kumar, Suraj Venjarammoodu and Bindu Panicker in key roles.
The music of the film has been composed by Jassie Gift. The film's music has already topped the charts with song like 'Kettille kettille' and 'Chenthengin' turning out to be chart busters.
Produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam under the banner of Mulakupadam Films, 'Pokkiri Raja' would make it to the theatres by April. 30.
After the super hit of Rajamanikyam (2005), in which superstar Mammootty plays a comic hero named Bellary Raja (a local thug and rich buffalo dealer) for the first time in his career, the mega star is getting ready to enact yet another 'Raja' character named Pokkiri Raja in a film with the same name. Produced by Tomichchan Mulagupaadam under the banner of Mulagupaadam Films, Pokkiri Raja will be directed by Vaishak, a television anchor and associate of directors Johnny Antony and Joshy. The film is scripted by the Udayakrishna-Sibi K. Thomas duo. Jassie Gift will score the music. More details are awaited.Meanwhile, Mammootty's much-anticipated Vande Mataram, which was planned for release this Christmas, has been re-scheduled to Pongal 2009. The film is simultaneously being produced in Tamil as Aruvadai and Arjun and Sneha are also in the cast. Interestingly.
